About Doris
Doris is the system of meaning for deals. It reads every call, email and document, links each one to the deal it belongs to, and keeps one typed record of what is true about that deal. Sidekicks work from that record to push each deal forward, using what the team learned on every deal before it.
We are a small team in London, backed by Fuel Ventures and ManchesterAngels. Everyone here talks to customers and shapes the roadmap.
The role
This is our first commercial hire. You will help shape how Doris goes to market, build our sales pipeline and turn early customer conversations into commercial opportunities.
You will own outbound prospecting, lead first meetings and work directly with the founders to understand which customers we win, why they buy and how we can reach more of them. You will have real ownership from day one, with the opportunity to influence our sales strategy, messaging and ideal customer profile as we grow.
We sell to revenue teams, which means you are selling to people who do your job for a living. They can tell within a minute whether you understand the work, and once you do, the conversation gets serious quickly. Doris handles the admin, including call notes, briefs, follow-up drafts and chasing commitments. That leaves your time for research, conversations and the commercial thinking that turns prospects into customers.
As you build experience and demonstrate success, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of the full sales process, from prospecting through to closing deals.
What you will do
- Build the pipeline: Research target companies and revenue teams, identify decision-makers and find the best routes into potential customers.
- Find our best customers: Define and test our ideal customer profile. Segment accounts by size, sales motion and buying triggers, track reply and meeting rates, and use the results to decide where to focus.
- Own outbound: Build target lists, sequences and messaging across email and LinkedIn. Run campaigns with clear hypotheses, measure results and continuously improve performance.
- Lead customer conversations: Run first meetings and discovery calls, understand how prospects work today, uncover commercial pain points and identify where Doris can add value.
- Develop the sales process: Build a repeatable approach to qualification, discovery, objection handling and follow-up, documenting what works so the team can scale it.
- Work directly with the founders: Share what you learn from prospects, refine our pitch and help shape how we position and sell the product.
- Drive commercial growth: Identify patterns in customer feedback and sales performance, turn them into actionable insights and help convert early traction into a predictable pipeline.
- Grow into deal ownership: As you succeed, take on increasing responsibility for managing opportunities and progressing deals through the sales process.
What we are looking for
You are curious about how businesses actually work and ask better questions than most. You write clearly, communicate confidently and can build credibility with commercial decision-makers. You can hear no without taking it personally, and you can tell a no from a not yet.
Some sales or business development experience helps, as does time spent with a CRM such as HubSpot or Salesforce. Genuine interest in the problem helps more. If you have run a side project, organised something or sold anything at all, tell us about it.
You like finding patterns in messy information. You can run a small experiment, read the numbers honestly and explain what they mean, including when the answer is that the idea did not work. You take initiative, enjoy figuring things out and want to understand how commercial decisions translate into revenue.
What you get
- Competitive salary, plus commission tied to targets.
- Share options in the company under an EMI scheme.
- Coaching from the people doing the job beside you, instead of a review afterwards.
- A close view of how a go-to-market is built from nothing, with the opportunity to take on more responsibility as the business grows.
- A product that moves at a pace you won’t see anywhere else.
